UNDERSTANDING AND ENGAGING WITH MULTICULTURAL SPECIAL NEEDS FAMILIES – PART 2

In 2019, a group, along with our co-Sr. Pastor, attended Key Ministry’s Inclusion Fusion Live 2019 (#IFL2109). We learned about disability ministry and family support from amazing speakers, disability leaders, and special needs parents. 2 years later, God brought the opportunity to have me write as a guest blogger on Key Ministry’s website and speak on a panel at Inclusion Fusion Live 2021, alongside the same dynamic disability leaders that we learned from (and I’m still continuing to gain knowledge from these incredible leaders).

As a Key Ministry guest blogger, I shared part 2 on understanding and supporting cross-cultural or multi-cultural special needs families. As ministry leaders and church volunteers, how can we navigate and apply empathy towards others in ministry, whose cultures may be different from our own. In this post, I share 5 ways to incorporate empathy and cultural competency to diverse families within the church.
